Or could it be the Cuties? We may never know! One thing I know for sure though is that YOU have questions about the Cricut Mystery Box and I want to help! What is a Cricut Mystery Box?
An Official Cricut Mystery Box is a special collection of Cricut-brand items at a steeply discounted price. Usually, the MSRP (suggested retail price) is around $130-$160+ but you only pay roughly $49-$59 for the whole box of items. Often, the items in the box are related in some way or tied together with a theme, like the recent “All that Glitters” mystery box that was filled with glitter vinyl, paper, and pens. Note that items are NOT selected at random like a craft store “grab bag” — mystery boxes with the same name and released at the same date will typically have a pre-determined set of items. That said, the contents may change if they run out of a particular item — they’ll then replace it with another item of equal or greater value. (I don’t think this actually happens too much anymore, however.)
What Comes in a Cricut Mystery Box?
Ah, the big question! The items in a Cricut Mystery Box change, but typically you may find things like this inside:
- vinyl (iron-on, adhesive, and/or window cling)
- transfer tape
- paper (solid and/or patterned)
- specialty cutting materials
- pens and/or markers
- tools
- fabric or felt samplers
- digital image sets
- fonts
- Cricut Cutie (more on that later)
Not all of these items listed will be in every mystery box, however. You can find out what is in a mystery box before you order one by watching an “unboxing video” or simply by checking this page (I list the contents of the mystery boxes here!). I sometimes do “unboxing videos” on my JenniferMaker Facebook page right when they are released, so be sure you follow the page. Of course, you can just order a mystery box and be surprised when it arrives, too! It’s up to you!

Do Cricut Cuties always come in a Cricut Mystery Box?
A Cricut Cutie is a little collectible plastic figurine of the Cricut mascot (a “cute cricket”) that sometimes sneaks into a mystery box. You cannot buy Cricut Cuties outright — you can only get them with the purchase of something else or have them given to you by Cricut or someone who really likes you a lot! Some Cricut mystery boxes do indeed have a Cricut Cutie inside, but not ALL do. And you won’t randomly get a Cricut Cutie just because someone in the warehouse decided to slip one in. If the unboxing video or mystery box content list here on this page reveals that there’s a Cricut Cutie, then there should be one inside (barring unforeseen packing errors or supply issues).

Can anyone buy a Cricut Mystery Box? Do I have to subscribe to get it?
Alas, no—Cricut Mystery Boxes are not available to everyone due to licensing restrictions, shipping logistics, and who-knows-what. Typically, only U.S. and Canadian residents can order an Official Cricut Mystery Box — they are not currently offered to residents of other countries (sorry, friends in the UK, and Australia).
Also, some Cricut sales are specific to Cricut Access subscribers, so many Cricut Mystery Boxes are offered only to Cricut Access subscribers (like the “Back to Basics” Mystery Box). (This makes sense in that Cricut wants to reward its Cricut Access subscribers!) The good news is you save an extra 10% off a mystery box with Cricut Access (you need to be signed in with the same login that has Cricut Access to get any special discounts). If you don’t yet have Cricut Access, remember a free trial comes with every new Cricut. If your free trial has expired, you can subscribe to Cricut Access here.
All that said, what you don’t need to do is SUBSCRIBE to the mystery box itself — this is not a subscription box service. (I’m sure some people wish it were.) If you want a Mystery Box, you’ll need to order one each time.
How do I get a Cricut Mystery Box?
The short answer: Order an Official Cricut Mystery Box on the Cricut Shop when it is released.
The long answer: Getting a Cricut mystery box can be tricky because they are usually released in the middle of the day and sometimes sell out very quickly. The February 2020 mystery box sold out in less than three hours! But not all mystery boxes sell out that fast. The trick is to act as soon as you see it announced (follow my Facebook page here), but please note that NOT ALL mystery boxes are pre-announced.
When do Cricut Mystery Boxes Get Announced/Released?
An excellent question! It’s safe to say there is at least one mystery box every month, but sometimes there’s more than one. In my experience, they get released mid-week, but weekends are not unheard of And usually, the Cricut Mystery Boxes are released in the middle of the day, typically 12:00 pm ET.
What most people do is subscribe to blogs, Facebook pages, and/or YouTube channels of crafters who “unbox” the mystery box and show you what is inside, and this gives them a notification once the mystery box is released! You can follow my Facebook page here.
How Much is a Cricut Mystery Box?
The Official Cricut Mystery Boxes are usually $49.99-$74.99 before discounts. The only discounts that work with mystery boxes are Cricut Access discounts (and you must be signed in to get it). My Cricut discount code does not work with mystery boxes.
Is a Cricut Mystery Box worth the money?
This is entirely up to you! I think Cricut Mystery Boxes are great for new Cricut owners because they give you a sampling of materials and tools that are really useful to have when you’re first starting out. Then again, many experienced Cricut owners tell me they love them because it introduces them to new materials they haven’t tried before. Most people think the mystery boxes are worth the money IF they actually use the contents! You’ll have to decide this for yourself.
Ok, I ordered one! How long will it take to get my Mystery Box?
This depends entirely on how far away you are from the warehouse and how backed up they are. Mostly, they seem to arrive pretty quickly judging by all the photos I see in our Facebook community. But, to be safe, I’d allow at least a week for them to ship.
Can I return a Cricut Mystery Box?
No, all sales are final.
Help! The Mystery Box link isn’t working or the Cricut website isn’t loading!
When Mystery Boxes are released, there are a lot of people visiting the website trying to order all at once. The best thing to do is to keep trying the link or try visiting the Cricut Sales Page and scroll down and you should see the Mystery Box listed there. You can add it to your cart from that page.
What is a Cricut Digital Mystery Box?
A Digital Mystery Box is all digital and you get access immediately — no physical products are shipped to you. Digital mystery boxes can include:
- Digital Cut Files
- Print Then Cut Image Sets
- Licensed Images
- Fonts
When a Cricut Mystery Box is digital, it will be clearly marked as such. The normal price is the same and the same discounts apply BUT Cricut Access Premium Subscribers can get 50% off! Please note that I no longer include digital mystery boxes in my notifications.
How do I Access my Cricut Digital Mystery Box?
You can access your Cricut Digital Mystery Box inside Cricut Design Space. Once you make your purchase, you’ll get a confirmation via email. When you see that, re-launch Cricut Design Space (yes, quit then re-open), then go to Images, choose “Image Sets” under “Highlighted Categories,” then under Ownership select “Purchased,” and scroll to find your purchased image sets. If you have a lot of image sets, you may want to search on the name with the search box at the top of the screen.

I heard Canadians aren’t eligible for the digital ones that include things from Disney. Are they in all the digital mystery boxes? Also, can Canadians use your 10% discount?
