Customizable Templates for (Literally) Everything

From business cards and order forms to social media posts, invoices, flyers, and even T-shirt sizing charts, Canva’s customizable templates are the ultimate time-savers. These pre-designed layouts are a great way to give your brand a polished look without starting from scratch.

Just pick a template, pop in your info, and you’re done. Canva’s drag and drop editor makes it all super intuitive. In the video, I show you when not to use certain logo templates (especially if you’re planning to trademark!) and how to tweak templates to match your style.

Free Design Elements That Pop

Who doesn’t love a good free tool? Canva’s graphic design library is packed with thousands of free elements — like shapes, stickers, illustrations, and even animated goodies. These are perfect for leveling up everything from your product mockups to your social media content. Remember: elements without a crown icon are free in Canva!

Want to stay on-brand? I’ll show you ways to filter elements by color or search by style to keep things cohesive. Plus, nifty AI-powered tools like “Magic Recommendations” make it easier than ever to find what you need.

Font Pairings: Like Peas in a Pod

Typography can be intimidating, but Canva makes it simple. Their built-in font pairings give you stunning headline and body text combos that are visually balanced, totally brandable, and just look great together.

Use them in your marketing materials or social media posts for text that stands out – no design guesswork required.

Don’t forget to download your free 8-page sample of my Maker Marketplace ebook that includes more valuable info on choosing fonts, color palettes, and more! You can download it for free in my resource library.

DIY Product Images That Look Professional

Bad lighting? Boring background? No problem! I’ll show you how to use Canva Pro’s background removal feature. You can turn basic snapshots into scroll-stopping product images – no fancy camera, props, or equipment required. Talk about a money-saver!

If you’re on the free plan, you can still manually crop and stylize your photos to highlight your item beautifully in the photo editor. This is especially helpful if you’re selling on Etsy, Shopify, or anywhere that visuals make the sale.

Mockups Magic!

Want to show off your design on a mug, tote, or T-shirt without ordering samples? The Canva Mockups app is a total game-changer.

In the video tutorial, I’ll show you how to upload your design and digitally add it to real-life objects. It’s so easy. This unique feature is perfect for previewing product listings, creating social media graphics, and upgrading your shop visuals in minutes.

QR Codes Send Customers to Your Shop

Want to connect with customers quickly and effortlessly? Canva’s QR Code tool is your new BFF. I’ll show you exactly how to make a custom code you can add to your business cards, social media posts, signage, or packaging.

It’s a small but mighty detail that helps build strong customer relationships with almost zero effort.

Color Palettes That Tell a Story

Struggling to pick colors that really feel like the “essence” of your branding or product line? Try playing with Canva’s Palette Generator until you find one that resonates!

Have small business print needs beyond what your home printer can handle? Canva lets you print business cards, stickers, flyers, and more – straight from your account. It’s super convenient for small batch branding solutions, or preparing for a vendor event.

CANVA TOOL FOR BUSINESS #1: TEMPLATES FOR EVERYTHING

Canva’s amazing free templates include business cards, thank you cards for customers, social media graphics, logos, websites, stickers, order forms, invoices, flyers, and even sizing charts for T-shirts.

The main Templates page in Canva.

When you find a template to try, click it to see more details. Then, click "Customize this template" to open a copy of it.

Click the "customize this template" button in Canva.

Then you can simply update the template with your information!

NOTE: If you're designing a logo you plan to trademark or print at a large size, it's best to avoid using Canva's logo templates and elements for that. It’s best to stick with text and basic shapes like circles, lines, and rectangles if designing a logo, since these would not be subject to artistic copyright. As your business grows, you’re sure to find so many helpful templates to save you time and make your materials stand out!

CANVA TOOL FOR BUSINESS #2: FREE DESIGN ELEMENTS

There are thousands of free elements (shapes, graphics, photos, stickers, videos, etc.) in Canva!

The Elements panel in Canva.

If you’re on a free account, watch out for crown icons, because those will cost you unless you upgrade to a Pro account.

When you find one you like, click the element and it’s added right to your canvas.

You can also search for Elements by style or topic.

Once you start picking Elements, Canva may start adding Magic Recommendations to your results, which will have a similar topic and style.

If you want complementary options, click the three dots by your chosen element and select “View more by” to see similar contributions by the same artist.

CANVA TOOL FOR BUSINESS #3: PHOTO EDITING & PRODUCT BACKGROUNDS

If you have a product ready to list you can easily create stunning product visuals without needing expensive photo equipment.

One of my favorite free tools is Canva’s Free Photo Editor at canva.com/photo-editor.

Upload your product photo directly into the editor.

Canva's Free Online Photo Editor homepage.

You can use Canva’s basic editing tools to improve the image, or use Auto-adjust and Canva will apply its magic to make your photo look beautiful in one click!

Once your photo looks nice, the next step is to remove or crop out the original background.

If you’re using the free version of Canva, crop your image manually to highlight just your product. This works especially well for items with straight edges.

Crop your photo on the canvas by dragging the bounding box sides to show only the image.

In Canva, you can search for a product background that matches the story you want your product to tell. For example, if you’re listing a shadow box, you can search for an abstract background that fits the theme.

Once you find a background you love, add it and fill the canvas.

Then, add your product!

You can adjust the size, position, and even add a slight shadow to make your product image pop! Potential buyers will love seeing your product in a real setting!

CANVA TOOL FOR BUSINESS #4: MOCKUPS APP

Apps are additional tools Canva and its contributors create to let you do more advanced work on the platform.

The Apps icon in the Canva lefthand panel.

If you already have a design and want to show how it would look on different surfaces, Canva’s Mockups app is a fantastic tool to use.

With just a few clicks, you can place your design onto real-world objects — like a T-shirt, a sticker, a mug, a card, and so much more.

This makes it super easy to create professional-looking product images without ever needing to stage a photo shoot or order samples. Keep your costs down!

It’s especially helpful when you’re setting up product listings on Etsy, Shopify, or even your own website — because customers love seeing what a product will look like in real life.

Some more of my favorite Canva apps are Easy Reflection, Text Warp, and Lighting Studio!

CANVA TOOL FOR BUSINESS #5: MAKE A CUSTOM QR CODE

Canva offers the QR code app so you can help customers connect with your work in seconds!

Just add your website or shop to the app, and you’ll get a custom QR code instantly!

You can put the custom QR code on business cards, a banner, or a sign so customers can scan it with their phone and go right where you want them!

CANVA TOOL FOR BUSINESS #6: FONT PAIRINGS & TYPOGRAPHY

One of the best things about Canva is how easy it is to find beautiful, professional-looking font combinations — without needing to be a designer or a typography expert.

Under Text, find the Font Combinations section.

These are pre-styled text pairs that include things like a bold headline typeface with a smaller accent or body typeface — and they already look polished and cohesive.

Click on any combo to add it to your project — then simply double-click the text to change the words.

CANVA TOOL FOR BUSINESS #7: COLOR PALETTES

Picking colors that look great together and send the right message can be tricky, especially if you're just starting out.

Canva has an amazing free resource at canva.com/colors, and it’s packed with helpful tools to make this part of the design process much easier — and even fun.

Canva's Colors main webpage.

You can browse a huge collection of ready-made color palettes, explore trending combinations, or even use their Color Palette Generator — just upload a photo you love, and Canva will instantly pull the key colors from it for you.

Canva’s color resources also offer quick, free lessons on color theory — like complementary colors, saturation, contrast, and how to use color to guide your viewer’s eye.

Once you find or make a palette you like, copying the hex color codes takes just one click — and then you can paste them right into your Canva design to keep everything looking polished and consistent.

There’s also a section that explains the meaning and emotions behind different colors, which is helpful when you’re building your brand or creating content that tells a story.

CANVA TOOL FOR BUSINESS #8: DOWNLOAD & SELL YOUR DESIGNS

Canva makes it really easy to download your work in different file types, especially if you have a paid account.

With a finished product image on the canvas, click "Share."

Click the file type drop-down to see different options.

You can download high-quality PNG files with a free account.

Click "Download" to save it.

Click Share and then Download to download your finished Canva product design.

With the right settings, you can get fantastic marketing images for product listings to use in your marketing materials!

NOTE: Before you sell anything created with Canva elements or photographs, make sure you understand Canva's licensing rules at canva.com/licensing-explained. There are different rules for certain content and uses, so always stay up-to-date on the tools you’re using.

CANVA TOOL FOR BUSINESS #9: PRINT WITH CANVA

You can even print your designs without leaving the Canva platfrom using the Print With Canva tool.

The Print with Canva preview and options panel.

CANVA TOOL FOR BUSINESS #10: BRAND KIT (PRO FEATURE)

If you have a Canva Pro account, the Brand Kit is useful if you plan to work in Canva a lot. You can upload your logo, select brand colors, choose fonts, and keep everything you need to stay consistent across all your designs.

Canva Pro Brand Kit.
