Welcome back to day 8 of our Craft Room Organization Challenge.

Craft Room Organization Challenge Day 8: Assess, Assess, Assess

Wow, what a week! My craft room has totally changed from what it was. Which, let’s be honest, was a room filled with WAY too much stuff. I mean, I found some crazy things in there, like my pretty leather boots. I’d been wondering where those went!

This is a new week in our challenge, and I’m excited to get started! Over the past week, we talked about how to get rid of all the stuff that doesn’t belong in your craft room. And then I gave you the details on how to get into my private Facebook group to share in-progress photos, organization tips, and craft room storage tricks. I hope you’ve come by to introduce yourself already. If not, please join us at https://www.facebook.com/groups/craftroomorganization/ (just request access — I can usually get you approved in a day!)

Are you ready to move on? Let’s do this!!

Challenge 8: Assess, Assess, Assess

With all the non-crafting stuff out of our space, now we can actually SEE what is left in our room to organize and we have a better idea of how much space we have to work with. It’s tough to see clearly with a bunch of junk in our way.

(Did I say junk? Well, your stuff might not be junk, but some of mine clearly is. I just took all my trash to our local recycling center/dump yesterday! What a wonderful feeling to have that out of my house!)

Our first step this week is to really assess the things you’ve left in your craft space. I’m guessing most are craft supplies, tools, and furniture, but you may also have some decorations as well.

Let’s focus on craft supplies today. If we group like things together, we’ll see how much we have of each thing and the amount of space they take.

For example, I have a bunch of paint in little paint bottles. So I’ve put all of my little paint into a group by itself so I can take stock of what I have. Here are my paints — I have fewer than I thought, because before they were sort of spread out, and now I can see them in a neat pile. Other things, though, I have more of than I realized!

Day 8 Assignment: Separate your craft supplies into groups by type. If you have craft supplies in other parts of your house that should be here, go get them and put them in the appropriate groups. If you feel like sharing, take a photo of your supplies and share them on Facebook — we ALL love to see craft supplies!

Until tomorrow,
