It’s Day 4. How are you doing? Still with me?

Craft Room Organization Challenge Day 4: Take Out The Trash

Challenge 4: Take Out the Trash

Today we are going to continue the Great Purge by sorting through our OYNCS pile.

Yesterday you divided up everything in your craft space and began creating your OYNCS pile (remember, OYNCS stands for “Out, You Not Crafty Stuff!). That was a big job.

Now it’s time to begin going through your OYNCS pile and finding all the things you want to completely get rid of. Get yourself some trash bags or boxes — whatever you need.

Pick up each item in your OYNCS pile (or touch it, if it is too heavy to pick up) and ask yourself these questions:

  1. Is it broken, used up, or just “bad?”
  2. Have I used it in the last month? Three months? Six, nine, or twelve months?
  3. Do I PLAN to use it in the next month/six months/year?
  4. Do I actually ever use it?

If you answered no to any of those questions, it’s a good candidate for the trash.

So let’s take out the trash! If you don’t have a way to dispose of it immediately, at least get it out of the room. I put mine in my garage to await a visit to our local recycling center. Here is ALL the trash I got out of my craft room (no even kidding):

Does my trash pile motivate you? No? Then go make your own trash pile!!

Day 4 Assignment: Put all trash into trash bags or boxes. If it’s too big to go into something, move it OUT of your craft space. By the end of the day, everything that is trash should be out of your craft space.

Until tomorrow,

P.S. Those big black trash bags you see in the photo are one my clean-up tricks — they are Contractor Bags. They are MASSIVE and crazy strong. I highly recommend them when you’re purging. You can get them on Amazon here at my affiliate link: Contractor Bags.
