Welcome back to day 14 of our Craft Room Organization Challenge.

This week has been all about assessing our craft space. We’ve looked at our supplies, tools, seating, tables, storage units, and lighting. We’re almost done and ready to move on, but I want you to consider one more thing.

So first, you should know I’m not a minimalist. I believe in using all of my space, whether that’s in a page layout or in a room. I don’t necessarily mean I like things crowded and full. It’s more like I don’t like to see a bunch of space go to waste. That drives me nuts.

And when it comes to our craft rooms, most of us need to use all of our available space for keeping things organized and accessible.

One big thing folks tend to overlook when they are assessing a room are the WALLS and their ability to hold and organize things. So let’s take a closer look at that.

Challenge 14: Walls

Walls can be one of the best places to organize things. Look around your space and ask yourself these questions:

1. Are all my walls filled up to arm’s reach?

2. If there are organizers on my walls, are they working for me?

If you answered no to either or both questions, you should consider using those walls to get some of your supplies or tools up onto.

For example, in my craft room, two of my four walls (the two longest walls) are mostly entirely empty. So I am already thinking about how I can use this space to hold things. I have some awesome ideas — I can’t wait to share them with you!

Look at this big blank wall in my craft room:

Day 14 Assignment: Assess your walls. Do any of them have room for potential storage? Consider how much you could store if you got things up and onto the walls! If you feel like sharing, take a photo of your walls — with and without organizers — and share it on Facebook — your photos inspire us all.

Until tomorrow,
