Welcome to my 30-Day Craft Room Organization Challenge! Over the coming 30 days, I’m going to help you organize your craft room!

Craft Room Organization Challenge Day 1

It doesn’t matter if your “craft room” is the kitchen table, or if you have an enormous and gorgeous room (shrine) dedicated to your crafts. You can get it organized!

Organizing your craft space isn’t just about being neat and tidy. In fact, that’s not the point at all.

We organize our craft space for one very important reason:

So we can find what we need when we need it.

How many times have you been eager to make something, but then couldn’t find your glue gun. Or your paper? Or your scissors?

Do you look for a while? When do you give up?

I’m going to lead you through a transformation over the next 30 days. Step-by-step, hand-in-hand. You and I are going to completely change your crafting space.

You have just one job in this. Complete each challenge assignment I send you.

No matter what.

The challenges won’t be hard. Most are very simple. But they will change you. We’re looking for small SUSTAINABLE changes that will completely transform your crafting space in 30 days.

Everything that I’m going to ask you to do, I’ve done myself.

My sewing studio used to be a basement FILLED with old stuff, boxes, furniture, trash, you name it — it was there. I had a tiny path to walk through, and that was it.

It was a mess. I was depressed. I never wanted to craft anymore. I was probably a lot worse off than you.

It was HORRIBLE. I’d show you a before picture, but I can’t even find one. Here’s an in-progress photo, after we’d purged most of the stuff and were fixing up the space.

And within one month, we transformed our basement overflowing with stuff into an open studio with an organized place to store my fabric stash, all of my sewing tools, and my multiple sewing machines. We even created a giant cutting table that doubles as a project space. Everything was organized. Hallelujah!

That was four years ago.

So I know what it feels like to be stuck with a disorganized mess.

And I know you do, too.

But that ends today.

Here’s what my sewing studio looks like today. I’ve made SO MANY PROJECTS because of that craft space I carved out of a no-space.

Craft Room Organization Challenge 1: The Good Look

Today, let’s start off by taking a good look at our current craft space.

Just stand there and look at it. Don’t attempt to look for anything or move anything around. How does it make you feel? What do you like about it? What do you hate about it? What would it look like if you could change it any way you wanted?

Day 1 Challenge Assignment: Look, really LOOK, at your craft space. Now take a picture of it. You’re going to want a before picture to compare to your after picture. Trust me! You’re even welcome to come over to our support group on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/groups/craftroomorganization to share your before photos — I’ve shared mine there!
