Warm up someone’s day with this fun and easy teacup card with a pocket for a tea bag!
World Cardmaking Day is the first Saturday in October every year, and this year I’m celebrating with this warm and cheerful greeting card that holds a bag of tea. Like my easy layer greeting cards, this is a fun and simple project you can make today — it’ll bring joy to you and whomever you gift it to! Just cut, assemble, and tuck in your favorite tea packet or sachet. This tea bag card will show someone you love them so matcha! Brew can do it! Give it a chai! (Ha ha, see what I did there?)
My free SVG cut file for this tea cup card is super easy to use! Just download, upload to Cricut Design Space, and go! I’ve already set the score line and attached it to your base card, so there’s no need to ungroup and attach yourself. When finished, this card is 5.5″ wide by 8″ high.
Tip: You can make a matching mug to go with this sweet card! Here is an Infusible Ink mug made with the Cricut Mug Press. Get the free “cup of tea” pattern for this mug in design #290 in my free resource library.

- Cricut Scoring Wheel or Scoring Stylus
- Tweezers (I used these to help pop out the extra bits of paper that are sometimes left behind after cutting)

How to Make a Tea Bag Greeting Card
See how to make this fun and friendly tea bag card and warm up someone's day! You can get my Tea Bag card design file from my free resource library (get the password to the library in the form at the bottom of this page). This is design #243 in the library. Once you have uploaded the tea bag card design file to Cricut Design Space, it should look like this in Design Space for Desktop — note that the score line is already set and attached to the base card. If you're not sure how to upload an SVG file to Cricut Design Space, watch this helpful video training series I made. If you're on an iPhone or iPad, here's how to download and upload SVG files to the Cricut Design Space app. Here's what the tea bag card design looks like once uploaded to Design Space for iOS: And here's what the tea bag card design looks like once uploaded to Design Space for Android: Once your card file is prepared, click the green "Make It" button in the upper right hand corner. On the next screen you will see three different colored mats. The top should be gold, the second should be blue, and the last one should be pink. IMPORTANT: Make sure to choose the right material/tool for each layer before cutting. Gold Mat: Choose "Foil Poster Board" Blue Mat: Choose "Heavy Cardstock - 100lb" and select the appropriate scoring tool (this depends on your machine and your tools. I used the scoring stylus, but you can also use the single or double scoring wheel. Also make sure this is loaded into your machine. Pink Mat: Choose "Medium Cardstock - 80lb" * Of course if you choose different paper types, colors and weights select your materials and tools accordingly. After cutting your materials it's time to bring your creation to life! First peel all of your materials from the mat carefully. Next: Use the glue dots to add the smaller gold insert to the inside of your cup Next, insert the larger gold cutout into the front inside of the card Next, grab your favorite flavor tea bag or gift card and tuck it into the slots on the inside of the cup Now use a few more glue dots to seal up your cup and attach it to the front of the tea bag card When you're all done you are ready to present your tea bag card to someone special. This would make a great greeting card for just about any occasion...Just Because, Mother's Day, Teacher Appreciation...whatever you like! Love,
I’d like help with tea cup card. I really don’t want to buy a font. How do I use one fromDS instead?
You don’t need to buy the font to make this card, Suzette! It’s already a part of the design. Just upload the file to Design Space and cut away! 🙂
Do these instructions also apply to the Joy? I would love to make this card!
In order to cut on your Joy, Linda, you would need to re-size it so small that it would no longer accept a tea bag! However, you CAN download the PDF version of the file and print that off on your computer printer. You would need to cut it out using a craft knife or scissor instead of your Cricut, but you could still create this cool card! 😍
