This is a fun craft you can make on your own or do with the whole family. Kids get a kick out of this one, and it’s a great way to spend a winter afternoon during Christmas break! You’re going to love making these, even if you never thought to make a toilet paper roll craft. It’s a lot of fun to make Christmas crafts that deliver laughs as well as cute decor!
Each snowman’s face has a cute expression with a carrot nose, and comes with different scarf, hat, and button components to mix and match. Just look at this cute little guy with the red scarf!
There are four ways to sublimate toilet paper, and I’ll share them all with you in the tutorial:
- Sublimating directly onto the toilet paper
- Sublimating onto toilet paper sprayed with Dyepress PolyTPro Sublimation Spray
- Sublimating onto a thermal laminating pouch adhered to the toilet paper
- Sublimating onto white felt which is then wrapped around the roll
Want to learn which method had the best results, and which one I wouldn’t try again? Be sure to check out the tutorial to find out!
To make a full snowman, you’ll start with four rolls of toilet paper — one for the hat, one for the face, one for the scarf, and one for the little snowman buttons and feet.
If you’d like to practice by sublimating just one roll of toilet paper, I’ve got single designs for you to try, too. The “Rosy Cheeks” design especially cracks me up!
Want to customize your toilet paper snowman? Use a little bit of craft glue to add pom poms or googly eyes, and make them even sillier! You can even make multiple toilet roll snowmen with different “personalities” and looks! Mix and match the styles of the snowman’s scarf with its cute snowman hat, faces, and buttons. There are lots of combinations you can try!
Now, you might be thinking, the curved shape of the roll may be difficult to sublimate. However, I’ll show you how to make it simple by pulling off some toilet paper and pressing it on a flat surface. Easy peasy!
The first step is to get the toilet paper snowman PNG files, then prepare them in Google Docs. There are multiple elements, like different faces, scarves, hats, and buttons you can use to customize your own snowman. I’ll show you each step of the way so you can make sure your transfers fit your toilet paper roll.
The next step is printing your sublimation transfers. You’ll need a sublimation printer, along with compatible ink and some sublimation transfer sheets. Use scissors to trim your designs down to fit your toilet paper, then I’ll walk you through the four different ways to sublimate toilet paper.
Finally, we’ll place our finished snowman parts onto a new plunger, and wrap it up with cellophane and a ribbon to make it gift or display-ready!
Toilet paper roll snowmen aren’t just fun for your bathroom, they make cute and hilarious gifts, too. Pair this cute winter craft idea with a gift card to the recipient’s favorite bath product store for a fun present! A toilet roll snowman is sure to bring some laughter to your loo. I can’t wait to see how yours turn out!

Answers to Your Questions About My Toilet Paper Snowman Tutorial
Q: Where is your tutorial for this project?
A: This is a special project we made for our free Maker Academy Weekend 2024 event! A complete and detailed step-by-step video premiered during the event November 7-10, 2024. You can get access to the video tutorial and printable handbook that details how to make this great project if you get a 2024 VIP Pass to Maker Academy Weekend or by joining the ADVANCE with JenniferMaker program as an ANNUAL member, which comes with other perks and bonuses, too!
Q: How do you make a toilet paper snowman?
A: Just follow the tutorial with my files, and it’s a breeze! I walk you through each step of making a toilet paper snowman of your own. It’s so much fun!
Q: What toilet paper can you sublimate on?
A: To make a toilet paper snowman craft, I recommend using unquilted 2-ply toilet tissue without a design printed on it.
Q: How can you sublimate toilet paper if it’s not polyester?
A: While sublimation ink will wash out or off of items like T-shirts or tumblers that aren’t made of polyester, they will stay in items that don’t get washed. Since we’re not washing the toilet paper, or getting it wet, the sublimation ink will hold! Please do not use hairspray when sublimating toilet paper or other projects because it is flammable and should not be heated up.
Q: How long do I sublimate toilet paper?
A: Check out the tutorial to learn the pressing temperatures and times for each method.
Q: Do I need to use a plunger with my toilet paper snowman?
A: Nope! Using a plunger is just one way to display them. You can wrap the stack of rolls in cellophane without a plunger, or display them another way.
Q: Which is the best method to sublimate toilet paper?
A: When I did my tests for this project, one method was a clear winner. Check out the tutorial to learn which one it was!
Q: Can a Cricut do sublimation printing?
A: While a Cricut cutting machine can be useful in some sublimation projects, it does not sublimate or print sublimation ink. However, you can use a Cricut and Infusible Ink pens to draw designs onto paper which can be sublimated, or use a Cricut to cut SVG designs out of Infusible Ink transfer sheets.
