Camera Settings for Blog Photos and Videos

Share the love!

I love my Lumix DMC FZ1000 so much I now have two. One I keep above my lightbox for videos of me making crafts (so short-distance view of hands, crafts, but no faces). The other is mounted overhead in my craft room and is for videos of me demonstrating crafts (so face, half body, and long-distance view of crafts). Here are the settings I use that work really well for me:

Camera #1 (the one mounted above my work surface that shows upclose images):

For still shots of my crafts:

  • I used the SCN setting and select Cute Dessert, which produces a lightened and more vivid image. It’s SO easy. I still edit the photos a bit in Photoshop later on, usually increasing both the brightness and vibrancy again, but this is the setting that I think is the best place to begin.

For video shots of my crafts (in Motion Picture settings):

  • Photo style is Standard
  • 4k photo is OFF
  • Rec format is AVCHD
  • Rec quality is 1920 x 1080, 60i, Image sensor output 60p, 17MBps, Dolby Digital
  • Exposure Mode is P
  • High Speed Video is Off
  • AFS/AFF is AFS
  • Continuous AF is ON

Camera #2 (the one in my craft room that records me, my face, and body)

For video shots of me I use:

  • Everything else is the same as above EXCEPT I set my Motion Picture settings Photo style to Portrait
