Make an elegant autumn & fall wedding invitation with a gorgeous filigree design. Or simply make it as a lovely autumn card for a friend!

It’s a pretty autumn day and leaves are falling in my backyard. So I was inspired to celebrate my favorite season with a new card design! This beautiful 5″ x 7″ card is deceptively simple to make if you have a cutting machine like a Cricut. It’s really just two layers and your cutting machine does all the hard work. I think this design makes perfect autumn fall wedding invitations, but it’s also just an elegant card!

One of the really cool things about this particular card is that while it looks quite intricate, it was actually quite easy to design once I came up with a good system. And because of this, I’ve decided to SHOW YOU how to actually design this lacy, filigree style card. I see people selling these on Etsy for a LOT of money, but you can really design these yourself. So I am adding an entirely new bonus lesson to my CUT ABOVE SVG Design Course. The bonus lesson will be for those students who have completed the first eight units, as it will build off everything else taught in the course.

I’m excited to show you how to make autumn & fall wedding invitation or card! This post contains some affiliate links for your convenience (which means if you make a purchase after clicking a link I will earn a small commission but it won’t cost you a penny more)!Read my full disclosure policy.

Materials for the Autumn & Fall Wedding Invitations and Cards

  • 65lb. 8.5″ x 11″ (letter size) cardstock (I used magenta and yellow)
  • Spray adhesive
  • A way to cut your paper (I used this)
  • Design #111 – My free SVG cut file/pattern (available in my free resource library—get the password at the bottom of this post)

How to Make the Autumn & Fall Wedding Invitation and Card

First, download the autumn & fall wedding invitation pattern (Design #111) from my free resource library. The pattern is saved as SVG, DXF, and PNG so you can upload the file to your design software. If you have a Cricut but you’re not sure how to upload an SVG cut file to Cricut Design Space, watch this helpful video training series I made.

NOTE: If you use the SVG file, one layer is a SCORE layer. If you have a scoring stylus, you must change this layer (it looks like two parallel blue lines) to score in Design Space, then attach that layer to the autumn leaves card layer. If you do not have a scoring stylus, delete the score layer before you cut.

When I cut this design on my Cricut Explore Air 2, it took 10 minutes. So if you’re planning to make many of these as invitations, be sure to budget enough time for all of these intricate cuts.

Once you cut out this autumn card, fold the two sides in. If you scored the card, it will be easier to fold it, but you’ll still want to do it carefully. If you are unable to score the card when you cut it as I did, you may want to get a scoring tool to help you add in a score line alongside each edge of the card.

Spray the back of your insert with adhesive and place it in the center of the card.

Optionally, you can tie a piece of ribbon or string in the middle to keep the two sides together. Some people prefer to use a belly band (thin strip of paper wrapped around the card) to keep it all together.

And that’s really all there is to make this gorgeous autumn & fall card!

  1. This is beautiful what spray adhesive did you use, I tried Easy Tack repositionable and didn’t like the look it left in the cut outs.
