I love Wendy’s Frostys. But Frostys are a treat I’m not currently indulging in. My old Weight Watchers recipe folder had a recipe for a Faux Frosty that called for a frozen banana, ice cubes, cocoa powder, and skim milk. I have no frozen bananas right now, so I looked around for another recipe. I came across a number of healthy Frosty and Skinny Shake recipes on Pinterest — some weren’t healthy enough for me, and some looked destined to fail. There’s nothing more disappointing than something that looks good but tastes terrible. Eventually I discovered some recipes that called for xanthan gum, which I know is a thickening agent that my local health food store sells. So I tried a recipe with xanthan and guar gum … and loved it.

I wouldn’t say it tastes just like a Frosty — I taste less creaminess, less fat than is present in a Frosty. But it is VERY good and very satisfying. You can add a scoop of protein powder as well if that works for you.
